GUTTATION
What is Guttation?
Guttation is the appearance of little droplets of liquid on the leaves of plants. This process is completely natural and is not harmful to the plant.
Why does Guttation occur?
SUMMARY
Guttation occurs when there is a lot of moisture in the soil of a plant. At night the plant does not need as much moisture as throughout the day, but the process of pulling moisture from the soil still occurs. This means that there is a build up of moisture within the plant, and as a result the plant will release droplets of water through their leaves to help alleaviate this.
Outdoor Plants
Guttation vs Dew drops
Guttation is moisture emitted from the plant itself, while dew is formed on the leaf’s surface from the condensation of the moisture in the air outside.
